From January 13th to 15th this year, the European DHI Cup was held in Odense,
the 3rd largest city in Denmark. Held at the start of each year, the DHI Cup is
recognized as one of the premier European R/C car events, which gathers top
drivers from around the world including Europe, Japan and the U.S.A. Held at a
municipal gym, a special indoor circuit was prepared for the competition. The
competition has two classes (12T modified and 19T stock) and consists of
practice on Friday, 5 qualifying rounds on Saturday and finals on Sunday. A
total of 80 stock & 97 modified class drivers entered this year's race of
which 21 stock and 16 modified class drivers used Tamiya machines. That means 37
drivers, approximately 1/5 of the total, used Tamiya machine.
On Saturday, Rheinard used his TRF415MSX
to take three of the five rounds and won pole position for the final round.
Local driver Steen Graversen from Denmark, also using a TRF415MSX, qualified for
A-mail finals as well. Other machines making it to the finals were three X-Ray,
two Associated, and one each of Corally, Schumacher and Hot Bodies. On Sunday,
Rheinard displayed a dominating performance, winning pole-to-finish in all 3
heats to claim the title, with Graversen finishing in 8th place. In the stock
class, two drivers using TRF415 series chassis finished in 2nd and 10th.
