Reedy Race 2006 information page

Reedy Race 2006 information page

Here you will find all the latest news regarding this year's event, so check back often as we will update rules, sponsors and the activities, which will be taking place.

Attention racers! The entry lotto winners are now up. Check the confirmed Reedy Entry section of this page and make sure we have the correct racer information.

Important Tamiya Saturday track practice announcement! If you are entered into the Reedy Race whether you're in Open or Invite, the Tamiya Track is now closed to all participants. In an effort to make this event as fair as possible no advance track practice will be allowed including Tamiya TRF drivers. The track will only be open to our regular Tamiya customers (The ones that are not entered in the Reedy Race) that wish to drive their cars on our facility. The track layout will also be configured so as not to be the traditional Reedy wide open layout to prevent those of you who think will sneak in a run or two. This will be in effect immediately.

Location

The 2006 Reedy Race of Touring Car Champions will once again take place at the Tamiya America R&D Test Facility located in Aliso Viejo, California. This years dates are May 25th -28th.

  Entries Top

The entries will be handled in the same manner this year as the last few years due to the high volume of participants wanting to attend and to make it fair for racers around the country. The lottery system will be used to determine which racers will be entered into the event.

How it works:
Racers wanting to participate will need to mail in their entry before April 7th 2006. Entries postmarked after this date will not be entered into the lottery. (Do not wait till the last minute to send it in. If you are serious about being part of the event send in your entry ASAP)

Payment must be included with all entry forms. Entries received without payment will not be put into the lottery pool. Make sure to send in your entry addressed to Tamiya America, Inc. 2 Orion, Aliso Viejo, CA 92656-4200 Attention Department Reedy.

Only one entry per person! Please only send one payment per entry. Do not send in one lump payment for multiple racers as this makes refunding or returning non-winning lotto winners a mess.

You may only choose one class. You may not choose two classes in the hopes that you will make one or the other.

Your racer information must be accurate. Name, address, class, frequencies, personal transponder number, phone number, T-shirt size and email address.
Once we have all entries submitted, each one will be assigned a number. This number will go into a lottery pool. Mike Reedy will draw the numbers. The winners names will be posted on this page and we will also contact them via email or phone. The drawing will be held on April 10, 2006. Check back on this date to see if you made it in. Note: Due to the high volume of entries we will post the winners shortly and hopefully by April 15th. We are allowing a few days for those last minute entries that were post marked by the 7th to arrive to us.
Racers not making the cut will be put into a waiting list, also determined by lottery. That list will also be posted on this site.
Entries are not transferable.
Entries are non-refundable after May 12th.

Important note:
For those racers that made the A Main in the Open Spec and Open Mod classes in 2005, they will receive an automatic spot for the 2006 event. These racers must send in their entry by April 7th 2006. If we do not have your entry by that date we will assume you are not participating. Make sure you get in your entry.
Drivers from other countries are guaranteed spots so make sure to get your entry ASAP!

Last year as promised the following 12 racers get an automatic spot into the 2006 Reedy Race. These 12 racers were kind enough to donate their time to help the race organizers get the facility cleaned up. We thank them very much for their help!

The above racers just need to send in their entry with payment. If for some reason you are not able to attend please let the race organizers know as soon as possible.

There will be 4 controlled sessions on Thursday and 4 on Friday. There will be no open practice. On Saturday May 27th, the first race day, there will be 3 rounds of Open Qualifying and 4 rounds of Invitational racing. On Sunday May 28th there will be one final round of OpenEqualifying and 4 rounds of Invitational racing.

    Track Hours

Track Gates will open at 7:00 am on both race days.
Open drivers are restricted to 75mhz and 27mhz frequencies. Spectrum systems are welcome. Other bands will not be permitted unless problems arise.

    Scoring System
The AMBrc personal transponder system will be used and having a personal transponder is required for this event. For more on this system please visit here:
    http://www.amb-it.com/amb.asp
AMB personal transponders will not be sold at the track site. Please see your local dealer or please purchase one directly from AMBit.

    Track accommodations
Power and covered pits with tables will be supplied. Parking is limited and we encourage carpooling when possible.
Personal Compressors will not be allowed, as they tend to trip the power circuits.

    Controlled Tire
A controlled tire will be used for all classes. The exact compound is the RP-30, provided by Schumacher USA and TAKE-OFF, on a pre-mounted and glued dish wheel. The tire allotment (4 total race sets) for the Invitational class will be the same as every year since the inception of the Reedy touring Car race. The open class allotment will be the same as the Invitational class with 4 total sets allowed for qualifying and race main events. Practice tires will be available for sale. Invitational drivers will be alloted 4 sets for practice while Open Class drivers will be allotted 3 sets for practice tires. This is the maximum the race organizers have available for sale. All controlled race tires used at the Reedy Race must be purchased at the event. The race organizers will mark these tires for tech purposes. The price of the tires is $30.00

    Reedy Race 2006 Rules
    Untitled Document

We will start with this statement. This is the Reedy Race of Touring Car Champions, not a ROAR or IFMAR event! The following rules use the aforementioned sanctioning entities rules as guidelines to establish a basic rule set for the Reedy Race.

    Reedy Race Rules

    1. All chassis must be 4WD sedans.
    2. All cars must have 4-wheel braking and four-wheel drive at all times. (No One-way bearing options. They are not legal for this race)
    3. Locked spool devices are legal.
    4. Traction compounds are legal.
    5. Setting fire to tires for traction is prohibited.
    6. Tire Warmers are legal.
    7. Minimum car weight 53 OZ. all classes.
    8. Open Class Body Rules: For 2006 ROAR sedan bodies are the only bodies legal for the Open classes. I.E. 4-Door sedans. Legal bodies must be on the ROAR approved list found here http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/sbody.php
    9. Invitational Class Body Rules: For 2006 IFMAR sedan bodies are the only bodies legal for the Invitational class. Legal bodies must be on the IFMAR approved list found here http://www.ifmar.org/
    10. Minimum roof height 115 mm all classes.
    11. Maximum car width without body 190MM all classes.
    12. Maximum car width with body 195MM all classes.
    13. Wing maximum height 115mm all classes.
    14. The Open Mod class will have no limits on the amount of turns permissible.
    15. Brushless motors will be permitted in the Open Mod and Invite classes. Those motors must meet the same physical dimension requirements as their brushed counterparts as specified by ROAR IFMAR and EFRA rules. If a new brushless motor is introduced by a manufacture a sample motor must be provided to the TECH officials. This sample motor is to be used for reference purposes.
    16. Battery rules for the Open Classes: Due to confusion and availability of new batteries introduced, this year a battery list of cells that may be used will be in effect. The Open Mod Class and 19Turn Spec Class may only use cells appearing on the ROAR approved battery list with a manufactures maximum nominal rating of 3800mah or less. The list may be viewed here http://www.roarracing.com/approvals/sbattery.php
    17. Battery Rules for the Invitational Class: The cells allowed for the Invitational class will be those approved by IFMAR. The list of those cells may be found here http://www.ifmar.org/pdf/IFMAR_CELLS2006.pdf

A copy of the racer confirmation letter will be mailed out to all drivers who made this years' cut and will also be available for download shortly. This document will have more details regarding the rules, race parameters and event procedures to help you prepare for this years event.

    Motors
The Open Spec class will use the Quad magnet Reedy 19 Turn Spec motor (#513). Each racer will receive one free with their entry and additional motors may be purchased at the event. All tech-inspected motors may be used for qualifying and racing.
The Open Mod class will not have a 10 turn motor limit this year. Any IFMAR/ROAR specification motor may be used. For 2006 the use of brushless technology will be permitted. Brushless motors must meet the specifications outlined by IFMAR and ROAR.
