2004 Tamiya Endurance Races
Welcome to the Tamiya America 2004 Enduro Information page.
Tamiya America is proud to announce that in 2004, there will be two grueling endurance races that will put the limits of equipment and concentration to those teams bold enough to take on the challenge.
Past winning teams have included Team Orion (First Tamiya Enduro winners led by Rick Howart of Team Orion/Peak Performance), Team Tamiya (led by David Jun) and current title holders Team Novak (Led by Charlie Suangka and Tyree Phillips).
The “Tamiya Spring Enduro” will take place on Saturday, April 3, 2004 and the “Tamiya End of Summer Enduro” will take place on Saturday, September 18 .

Location:
Tamiya America Test Circuit Facility (Aliso Viejo, CA)
The track will open at 7:00 a.m. on both race dates.
Tables and chairs will not be supplied. All teams must be prepared to bring their own pit tables and chairs. Power is supplied.
Classes:
There are two classes from which to choose from.
Class 1: Pro Endurance Team
(This class is for Pro drivers. i.e. any team that has drivers/teammates that are of national or world class caliber should be in this class. If a Pro team wants to have semi-pro or sportsman drivers on their team that is allowed)
Class 2: Sportsman Endurance Team
This class is for sportsman or amateur caliber drivers only. Sportsman teams may not include or recruit any Pro caliber driver/drivers.
Race Format
Qualifying
All teams will qualify using the IFMAR start procedure.
Ten cars will be on the track in each qualifying heat.
The length of each qualifier will be 15 minutes.
There is one mandatory pit stop in which the battery must be changed. (This is done so that pit strategy and team efficiency is part of the teams qualifying time)
Teams not making the “A” Main Enduro will race in a “B” main 1 hour Enduro.
The qualifying order will be used to give the teams their choice of pit lane position.
Racing
The top 5 qualifying teams of each class will race on the same track simultaneously in the “A” main. The race control computer will track the two classes and the finishing order for both classes will be determined after the 4 hour endurance race.
Rules
Any Tamiya 4WD sedan chassis may be entered.
Any Option parts by Tamiya or aftermarket companies are allowed.
Modifications such as lightening are allowed as long as the basic car and parts are not re-engineered.
Any sub “C”, 7.2V, 6-cell NICD or NIMH 3300 Mah or lower battery capacity battery pack may be used.
All batteries must have a plug of some kind. Any connector is legal and there should be at least 1 inch of wire between the battery and the plug.
All speed controls must have a connector attached to the power wires.
No custom quick release battery systems are allowed. All battery changes must involve the act of plugging and unplugging the battery from the speed control.
The entire stock battery hold down system MUST be used during qualifying and racing. CUSTOM, LOCKING OR MODIFIED BATTERY HOLD MECHANISMS ARE NOT ALLOWED. (This rule is now in effect in the spirit of keeping costs down and to put pit crews on a more even playing field)
Any Tamiya Sedan or Sports car series body may be used.
Any manufacture wheel, rubber tire and insert may be used.
Tire changes are legal.
The qualifying chassis and body are the ones that must be raced in the final.
The motor a team qualifies with must be the one that the team must use to race with. (Motors will be checked prior to qualifying and racing)
All motors, Brushless or Brushed must be “production motors”. No prototype or experimental technologies will be allowed.
If a team blows up a motor during the 4 hour endurance race that team may replace that motor.
Quick change motor mounts are not allowed.
Personal AMB transponders must be used.
Cooling fans are allowed on the chassis.
Cutting out the side windows or half of the front window of the body is allowed for cooling.
There are no limits to the number of drivers per team. Teams may have as many or as little as they need.
There are no limits to the number of stints a driver may drive. If a team thinks they have a driver that can “iron man” the whole event!
All teams must select a team leader/captain.
The Tamiya Test Facility is open every Saturday from 10:00 am to 4:00 pm. The Saturdays leading up to the events will be a good time for teams to set up their cars and practice their strategies.
Good luck to all teams!
