TCS 2007 Season

TCS 2007 Season

The Tamiya Championship series is now entering its 13th season since its inception back in 1994. The series itself has successfully garnered the support and enthusiasm of loyal Tamiya fans and new racers to the radio control scene. As always, Tamiya hopes to promote and nurture the love of radio control through the TCS races. There are 6 rounds scheduled for the 2007 season, a brief description of each location should help racers familiarize themselves prior to the event.

Round 1 – S&N’s Trackside Hobbies (aka Trackside)
S&N’s Trackside Hobbies is located in Brookfield, Wisconsin. Trackside is a special venue since their facility houses an indoor on-road carpet track and indoor off-road track. They have been hosting a regional event for over 10 years and become so popular on the national level that we’ve had to make it a 2-day event for the past several years. This year’s regional race at Trackside will take place on March 3rd and 4th. In past years we’ve tried unique classes such as rally racing or stadium truck racing on the dirt track. This year will feature the newly released 1/16 scale Tamtech buggies as a brand new class to the TCS Series.

Round 2 – Seattle Indoor Raceway (aka S.I.R)
Seattle Indoor Raceway is located in Kent, Washington. This facility is unique to the series since it is the only indoor asphalt facility to host a TCS race. The crew over at S.I.R has taken great pride in building a premiere race facility and hobby shop. The track even features raised curbing similar to the Tamiya USA test track. In only a few years time, they have become a hardcore Tamiya dealer and loyal enthusiasts. This event is also another popular attraction on the national level, garnering a 2-day event also. This year’s regional race at S.I.R will take place on March 17th and 18th and we expect it to be one of the biggest races to date.

Round 3 – HobbyTown USA Memphis (aka Memphis)
This HobbyTown USA location is in Memphis, Tennessee. They are now in their 3rd year with the TCS program and proven to be a favorite among racers in the Midwest and East Coast area. The race venue is prepared and setup on a parking lot surface, which will take place this year on April 29th. The Mini class was the clear favorite in the region for 2006 and with the addition of the new M-03R, we expect to see some new machines and interesting racing at Memphis.

Round 4 – HobbyTown USA Fremont (aka Fremont)
This HobbyTown USA location is in Fremont, California. It is located in an open shopping center, with the race venue set for an outdoor asphalt surface. Many Northern, Central, and even Southern California racers make the trek to this regional race. The racing to say the least is quite competitive. The Mini class has proven to be the most popular in this part of the country also, so we expect a large showing and close racing action. The regional race will take place this year on June 10th.

Round 5 – Tamiya USA (aka T.A)
This regional race will take place at Tamiya America’s own R&D test facility in Aliso Viejo, California. The home race has become so big that it is now a 2-day event, which shall take place this year from June 30th to July 1st. The location has many amateur racers attending from the local Southern Orange County population. The 1/16 scale Tamtech Buggies were introduced last year during the TCS Finals as an exhibition class. It should be interesting to see what the new and seasoned racers tackle this year in this low cost, big fun series.

Round 6 – Hobby Works Laurel (aka Laurel)
The final round of the TCS series will culminate at the prestigious Hobby Works store in Laurel, Maryland. Hobby Works has been a TCS regional host site for over 11 years and the store facility is utterly amazing and completely filled with a Tamiya fans’ every desire. The race venue is set in the parking lot of the Hobby Works store and the surface is known to be smooth and fast. This parking lot track has been graced with popular chassis platforms from the TA-01 to the TA-05. Be a part of history and enjoy this regional race location on July 15th for some fun competitive racing with family and friends.
