Tamiya takes 2 out of 3!
On Memorial Day weekend, Tamiya took 2 out of 3 top honors in the 10th Annual Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions. For six consecutive years, Tamiya has hosted, in conjunction with Scotty Ernst, the Reedy Touring Car Race of Champions at the Tamiya America, Inc. facility in Southern California. Sadly, this event marks the end of an era as the Reedy Race will be moving on to a different location.
Marc Rheinard having struggled on day one of the race schedule came back on day two to clinch his second consecutive Invitational Championship beating out Craig Drescher of the UK and Juho Levanen of Finland. Marc raced in a very competitive field this year as he battled with all the top drivers from around the world including current World Champion Andy Moore. Marc used Tamiya's newest version of the TRF 415, called the TRF 415MSXX. Congratulations to Marc for all his efforts and continued enthusiasm to the RC sport.
In the Open Modified class it was Ryan Cavaleri who took the overall win, racing the newly released Associated Electric TC5. Ryan shared his top podium finish with Kyle Skidmore, taking second place, and Tamiya's own TRF America driver Rod Canare finishing in 3rd place with his TRF 415MSXX.
In the Open Spec class it was two-time KO PROPO Champion and former TCS GT-1 Champion, Corey Lewis, that took top honors. The Open Spec Class saw the largest field of competitors, 100 racers in all. Chassis set up, nerves of steel and proper motor tuning separated the best from the rest and Corey Lewis, after 4 years, has claimed his first Reedy Spec victory using his new TRF415MSXX.
All of the organizers and participants would like to take this moment to personally thank Mike Reedy for establishing this great race format. This race was made possible because of his love and vision for the racing hobby, and his mentorship to all the World Champions that make this race so much fun to watch.
We would also like to thank all of the hobby manufactures and sponsors that made this event possible through their sponsorship of the event and their donation of time.
