Reedy Race 2004 Race Results

Once again, the Reedy Race of Touring Car Champions was held over Memorial Day weekend at the Tamiya America R&D track facility. This event was the best yet as the weather was perfect and all participants had a great time. A special thank you goes to all the racers who participated as you guys put on a memorable show.

Tamiya driver Surikarn Chaidajsuriya took top honors by winning the coveted Invitational class. For the past two consecutive years Associated driver Barry Baker was the man to beat as he has taken top honors twice since the Reedy Race has been at the Tamiya Test Facility. This year it was clear that Barry Baker would have his work cut out for him as Greg Hodapp of Team X-Ray, Atsushi Hara of HPI and Tamiya's own Surikarn Chaidajsuriya had very fast cars with the chassis handling to match.

Unlike the previous two years, there was no motor limit in the Invite and Open Mod classes. It was a great treat to see all the motor manufactures go head to head as they tried their best to out perform the other. In the end Team Orion/Peak Performance triumphed as their new Peak Vantage 7x1 was the horsepower underneath the Tamiya TRF 415.

In the Open Spec class Tamiya defended last years win with Team Novak/Tamiya driver Charlie Suangka taking home the win as his Reedy 19T Quad Spec powered TRF 415 was able to take a 2nd grid position and turn it into a overall 1st place win. In the Open mod class Ryan Cavaleri driving for Team Losi took top honors as he was able to turn his TQ into an overall win in the first two races of the triple "A" main format. His team mates gave him a special thank you by drenching him with a bucket of water.

Mike Reedy and Tamiya America would like to thank all the sponsors that made this event possible. If it were not for their support and cooperation the magnitude of this event would not be possible.

All the sponsors and racers would like to give a special thanks to Scotty Ernst who is by far the best R/C race announcer around. His energy and commitment is what makes putting on the event so much fun. This has been Scotty's third straight year announcing and we truly appreciate all his hard work. No matter what main event you placed in, Scotty announced it as though it was the final race that would decide the fate of the world. Scotty, you are our hero!!!!!!!

We leave you now with all the results and a photo album of this great race.
