Make your TLU-01 LED unit come to life by adding a TLU-02 LED light unit. By placing a TLU-02 between your receiver and a TLU-01(s) you will gain multiple light patterns for different applications.

You can setup your TLU-02 to one pattern and change it by simple programming. This article will take you through the steps of setting up a light pattern and explain to change your TLU-02 to react to your needs.

Let's get started!!!

Plug control cable of TLU-02 into socket on TLU-01

Plug branch (power) cable into TLU-02 do not plug power into TLU-01

Before plugging LED's into TLU-01 you must setup the TLU-02

Plug in steering servo to Channel 1 slot on TLU-02

Plug in ESC into Channel 2 slot on TLU-02

Plug Channel 1 cable info receiver slot 1

Plug Channel 2 cable into receiver slot 2

Powering it up and set it

In this order turn on:

Transmitter
TLU-02
ESC (Electronic Speed Control
DO NOT TURN ON TLU-01

Hold down set button for more than 1 sec and release when all LED indicators (I/II/III/IV) are lit

Pull throttle to max forward, LED (I) will light up

Push throttle to max reverse, LED (II) will light

Release trigger

Full steering to right LED (III) will light

Full steering to left and release after all indicators are lit up

To complete setting, hold set button of TLU-02 for more than 1 sec and release after all lights turn off at once

Setting up light patterns A - D

The different light patterns determine how the LED ports (1 -8) on the TLU-01 will be used. (see your manual table)

Setting light pattern A
You must set both A & B ports even if you will only be using one TLU-01 in Port A

Hold set and mode until one led flashes on TLU-02 If the unit is in factory default, indicator I will flash else it will flash to the LED you last set.

LED's = I/A II/B III/C IV/D

Push mode button to select and hit set to set light pattern do not push and hold

Indicator flashed quickly when a port is set and B port is ready

Repeat procedure above to set port B (you must set both ports even if you will only be using one TLU-01)

For this article we will use light pattern A

Port 1 & 2 are headlights
- Port 1 solid no flash
- Port 2 full throttle will flash
Port 3 position (parking)
Port 4 is backup (reverse)
Port 5 & 6 are tail lights
Port 7 right blinker
Port 8 left blinker

Port 7 & 8 will flash hazards when car is not moving for a period of time

(Switch and power plug not used when using in conjunction with TLU-02)

Light Mode

Light mode selection is done after you decide what pattern you will be using for port A and B

I is daytime
II is evening
III is night
IV is fog

To change modes you must use the mode button on TLU-02. Default mode is I, if you change modes it will auto default when powered off. To switch default mode you select the mode then press and hold mode button, indicator will flash once and a new default will be recorded.

On the A pattern this means

I daytime

Port 1 off
Port 2 is off unless full throttle then flashing
Port 3 is off
Port 4 is off in forward and 100% on in reverse
Port 5 off in forward and 100% when stopped
Port 6 same as 5
Port 7 flashes on right turns
Port 8 flashes on left turns

II evening

Port 1 off
Port 2 is 50% on unless full throttle then flashing
Port 3 is 100% on
Port 4 is off in forward and 100% on in reverse
Port 5 50 % forward and 100% when stopped
Port 6 same as 5
Port 7 flashes on right turns
Port 8 flashes on left turns

III night

Port 1 100% on
Port 2 is 100% on unless full throttle then flashing
Port 3 is 100% on
Port 4 is off in forward and 100% on in reverse
Port 5 50 % forward and 100% when stopped
Port 6 same as 5
Port 7 flashes on right turns
Port 8 flashes on left turns

IV fog

Port 1 100% on
Port 2 is 100% on unless full throttle then flashing
Port 3 is 100% on
Port 4 is off in forward and 100% on in reverse
Port 5 50 % forward and 100% when stopped
Port 6 same as 5
Port 7 flashes on right turns
Port 8 flashes on left turns

Switching brightness

After you set your light mode you can switch your brightness between 100% or 50%, by pressing the Set button . Default is 100% brightness.

To change the default, select the desired brightness and press and hold mode button. Brightness default is now changed, repeat to change to the other brightness.
