The Subaru Impreza went through a lot of changes in the off-season, with major improvements
made to areas like the bodyshell, engine, suspension, electronics systems and aerodynamics.
Featuring the same aggressively styled front end and unique sectioned rear wing used in the
latter half of 2003, the 2004 Impreza made her debut in Mexico in round 3. 2003 world
champion Petter Solberg immediately showed what the 2004 model was capable of, leading
the race until the last day when he suffered a severe 5-minute penalty. Currently sitting in
second place in the drivers championship, Solberg and the 4-cylinder, 16 valve, turbocharged
Impreza have dominated the gravel tracks in 2004, with impressive victories in New Zealand,
Greece, Japan and Great Britain.
