  1. Description

For motor sports fans throughout the world, Grand Prix races are amongst the most popular. More than ten countries now hold Grand Prix meetings, but the first Grand Prix ever held was in France in 1906. Many Frenchmen have a great passion for car racing and one of these is Guy Ligier, the owner of the Ligier Team who had considerable success in the 1979 Formula I Grand Prix circuits. The Ligier Team began taking part in F-1 racing in 1976 having previously entered such races as the Le Mans 24-hour race. The first Ligier car was equipped with a V 12 cylinder Matra engine and attracted much public attention with its unique body style. With French driver, Jacques Laffite, at the wheel this all French car won the 1977 Swedish Grand Prix.
