The 1/48 scale Henschel Hs-123A-1 fighter plan model by Italeri comes with a set of Tamiya
original drum cans and Jerry cans as used by Luftwaffe to carry airplane fuel, making this
model ready-made for use as a diorama centerpiece.
Developed in 1935, the Henschel Hs-123A-1 served as a ground-attack fighter in the Spanish
Civil War and WWII. Powered by an 880hp air-cooled BMW132 engine, the open-topped
Henschel was considered obsolete by the start of WWII. However, its low-speed stable flying
made it perfect as a ground attack fighter during the German Blitzkrieg offensive. From 1941
it also served on the Eastern front, where it gained pilots trust due to its durability and high
operating rate. The last Henschels disappeared from the field in Summer of 1944.
