Soar the skies with the powerful P-51D Mustang
The P-51D Mustang which appeared in May 1944, came built with a laminar airfoil and undersurface to minimize air resistance, making it more aerodynamic. For its power, the P-51D packed a supercharged Packard Merlin V1650-7 engine. A teardrop type canopy provided excellent visibility for the pilot, and had six daunting 13.7mm guns at his disposal. Auxiliary drop tanks enabled the Mustang to achieve a continuous flight range up to 3,700km, which allowed it to provide U.S. bombers effective protection against the German Me109 and Fw190 interceptors all the way to Germany.
About the Staff Car: In America the use of cars spread to the public early. The American Forces were supplied with various cars in large qualities which were often used as staff cars. These vehicles were often used for liaison as well as the feet for the Air Corps.
