  1. Description

In an effort to counter the high-flying B-29s which were attacking Japan in the latter stages of the Pacific War, the Japanese Army modified the Ki-46 "Dinah", Japanese designation Hyakushiki Shireibu Teisatsuki or Type 100 Command Reconnaissance Aircraft, into an air defense fighter. This kit may be assembled as either an Otsu variant of the Ki-46 III-Kai, which was armed with two 20mm cannon in the nose, or the Otsu + Hei variant, which also had a 37mm cannnon that was specially mounted to fire upward. Anti-aircraft "Ta" cluster bombs, which were designed to be released above the B-29 formations, could also be mounted on the wings. Two crew figures and three marking options are included.
