1/48 Us M8 Light Armored Car

  1. Description

The M8 was produced in 1942, by the Ford Motor Company to help the US reconnaissance forces in World War II. The M8 was nicknamed the "Greyhound" by British forces after viewing the vehicles thin armor and quick speeds. The liquid-cooled 110hp engine produced top speeds of 88km/h. The armored car was developed for a four-man crew, which included a commander, gunner, driver and radio operator. Features of the vehicle include an open-top turret, 37mm cannon, a coaxial M1919A4-7.62mm machine gun and M2-12.7mm anti-aircraft heavy machine gun. A majority of the M8 armored cars were used in the reconnaissance and armored battalions in Europe. Up to 1945, 8,523 vehicles were produced. However, even after the war ended, NATO forces continued to use this military vehicle.
